Comprehensive Electronic Cover in Three Layers

Each section targets a different aspect of electronic risk. You can take Section A alone or combine all three for complete end-to-end protection of your technology investments.

Section A — Electronic Equipment

Covers sudden and accidental physical damage to your electronic hardware from an unforeseen event.

This section provides All Risks coverage for unforeseen and sudden physical loss or damage to electronic equipment — including computers and laptops. The policy indemnifies the insured for the cost of repair or, where necessary, replacement with new items of the same kind and capacity, including freight and customs duties. Gradual operating causes and wear and tear (covered under Machinery Breakdown) are excluded.

Accidental physical damage from external causes (drops, impacts, liquid ingress)
Damage caused by faulty operation, carelessness, or negligence of operators
Theft or burglary of insured electronic equipment from insured premises
Fire, lightning, explosion, and allied perils causing damage to equipment
Flood, storm, water damage, or any other accidental external cause
Damage during transit within the insured premises or between sites

Not Covered: Mechanical or electrical breakdown, wear and tear, gradual deterioration, willful acts by the insured, and war risks.

Section B — External Data Media

Covers the cost of reconstructing lost, damaged, or destroyed data stored on external media.

Data is often more valuable than the hardware that holds it. Section B covers the reasonable cost of reconstituting data that has been lost or destroyed as a result of an insured peril, including labour costs to restore data from source documents or backup archives.

Cost of purchasing replacement blank media (hard drives, SSDs, tapes, disks)
Labour costs for re-entering or reconstructing data from source documents
Costs of restoring data from backup copies where available
Professional fees for data recovery specialists where reconstruction is feasible

Note: Cover applies only where the data can be reconstructed from existing source documents. Unrecoverable data (with no backup or source) is excluded.

Section C — Increased Cost of Working

Covers the additional expenses needed to maintain operations after insured equipment is damaged.

When key equipment is damaged, businesses often incur significant extra costs to keep operating, renting replacement hardware, paying overtime, outsourcing work. Section C reimburses these additional costs up to the indemnity period specified in the policy.

Rental of temporary or replacement equipment while repairs are underway
Overtime payments to staff working to restore normal operations
Costs of outsourcing work to third parties during the recovery period
Additional communication, transportation, or expediting costs incurred
Reasonable costs to accelerate the repair or replacement of equipment
Subject to a maximum indemnity period stated in the policy schedule

What Equipment Can Be Covered?

Section A covers a broad range of electronic equipment across industries, from office technology to medical and industrial control systems.

Computers & Servers

Desktops, laptops, mainframes, servers, and associated peripherals.

Medical Equipment

Diagnostic scanners, imaging systems, patient monitoring, and lab equipment.

Communication Systems

PABX, switchboards, telecom networks, and broadcasting equipment.

Electronic Control Systems

PLCs, SCADA systems, industrial control panels, and automation equipment.

Security & Surveillance

CCTV systems, access control, alarm systems, and monitoring equipment.

Office Electronics

Printers, copiers, scanners, POS systems, and audio-visual equipment.

What Is Not Covered

The following are excluded from all sections of the EEI policy. Please refer to your full policy schedule for a complete list.

Mechanical or electrical breakdown (covered under Machinery Breakdown policy)
Wear and tear, gradual deterioration, or corrosion
Willful acts, fraud, or dishonesty by the insured
War, invasion, hostilities, or nuclear contamination
Consequential loss (unless Section C, ICW is included)
Software loss or virus damage (not physical equipment damage)
Aesthetic damage that does not affect function
Equipment used outside the insured premises (unless specifically endorsed)

Protect Your Technology Infrastructure Today

Whether you run a hospital, data centre, or manufacturing plant — your electronic equipment is mission-critical. One accidental event should not bring your entire operation to a halt.
